olice will hand over reckless driving suspect M. Rasyid Amrullah Rajasa to prosecutors by next week in preparation for trial, an officer said Wednesday.
“The case file is complete. The next step is to transfer the suspect along with all the evidence to the prosecutor.” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said.
Rasyid, son of Coordinating Economics Minister Hatta Rajasa, will be taken to the National Police Hospital in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, to take a medical test, before being escorted to the Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office.
According to Rikwanto, the test would ensure Rasyid is fit to face the trial.
Rasyid has been charged with offenses under the 2009 Traffic and Public Transportation Law that carry a maximum sentence of six years’ imprisonment for reckless driving, causing the death of two people on Jan. 1
