Senior PKS lawmaker named
graft suspect

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named lawmaker Lutfi Hasan Ishaq a graft suspect for allegedly accepting bribes to award meat import and procurement contracts.

The KPK also requested that the Immigration Directorate General impose a ban on the overseas travel of Lutfi, who is also chairman of the president of the Prosperous Justice Party, during the investigation.

“We have sent the request and it will be effective immediately,” KPK spokesman Johan Budi told a press conference on Wednesday.

The KPK also named Ahmad Fathanah, Arya Abdi Effendi and Juard Effendi as suspects of the case.

Luthfi allegedly accepted a Rp 1 billion bribe from Ahmad from Arya Abdi Effendi and Juard Effendi, directors of PT Indoguna Utama, a meat importer.

Luthfi declined to comment. “I have no comment this time. I need to study the case first,” he said as quoted by kompas.com. (dic)
