Head of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) central board, Maruarar Sirait, urged Jakarta Governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to ignore the results of a survey that saw Jokowi top a list of potential presidents.
“Jokowi has to focus on delivering his campaign promises to the residents of Jakarta. Don’t disturb him with political ambition,” Maruarar said on Thursday as quoted by kompas.com.
The statement was given in response to a survey undertaken by the Bersatu Data Center (PDB) in which Jokowi collected 21 percent of the votes. In fact, Jokowi also outnumbered the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) party chief patron Prabowo Subianto and PDI-P chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri.(dic)
