he Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) claimed to have selected enough legislative candidates for the 2014 election and will soon submit their names to the election organizer.
PDI-P lawmaker Puan Maharani said the party had selected more than 560 aspiring lawmakers that will compete for 560 seats at the House of Representatives. Some of them are celebrities, including Yessy Gusman and Edo Kondologit. “We are not looking for celebrities as legislative candidates. It just happens that they have strong support in their respective constituencies,” Puan said.
The party claimed to have conducted psychology tests to see if their candidates are fit to run for office. It also looked into the candidates’ backgrounds to make sure they do not have criminal records. The General Election Commission (KPU) required that political parties submit a tentative list of legislative candidates in April.
