The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) spokesman Johan Budi said the commission would soon question Riau Governor and Golkar party politician Rusli Zainal as a suspect in two separate corruption cases.
The KPK said that it had questioned 89 witnesses in Rusli's case and would go forward with the investigation by questioning Rusli.
"We have not yet decided when we will question him, though," Johan said as quoted by kompas.com.
Rusli has been accused of bribing a group of local legislators, through Riau Sports and Youth Agency head Lukman Abbas, in an attempt to expedite the revision of a bylaw to increase the budget allocation for the construction of the 2012 National Games (PON) venues in Riau.
He has also been charged with accepting a bribe from a private company that benefited from the bylaw.
Seven local legislators have been arrested in connection with the case. KPK investigators also confiscated Rp 900 million (US$94,000) as evidence of the bribe.
