State prosecutors sought on Thursday a suspended sentence for M. Rasyid Amrullah Rajasa, the defendant in a reckless driving case, citing his compensation money to his victims as a mitigating factor.

Your comments:

This would be a precedent-setting verdict when a defendant shows remorse and suffers psychologically and is not sentenced to a jail term.

Perhaps the most compelling reason for the light sentence is the defendant’s political family connections. But that, of course, is not publically taken into account.

So most of us under similar circumstances would end up in jail for many years unless, of course, we had enough cash to change the judge’s mind.
