ndonesian’s badminton mixed doubles pairs have shown some early dominance at the Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold, with three pairs easing past their opponents in the second round on Wednesday.
The Swiss Open runs from March 12-17 in Basel, Switzerland.
Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir, who have just retained their All England championship and are the top seeds at the tournament, won 21-12, 21-17 over Germany’s Peter Kaesbauer and Isabel Herttrich, while fifth seeds Markis Kido and Pia Zebaidah Bernadeth defeated British pair Chris Adcock and Gabrielle White 21-11, 12-21, 21-17.
Third seeds Muhammad Rijal and Debby Susanto also advanced to the next round after winning 22-20, 21-19 over Danish pair Anders Kristiansen and Julie Houmann.
However, Indra Viki Okvana and Gustiani Megawati could not follow suit as they went down to French pair Ronan Labar and Laura Choinet 21-13, 21-13.
In the women’s singles, Adrianti Firdasari was second best to Chinese Yanjiao Jiang, who beat her 21-13, 21-9.
