Police chief Brig. Gen. Sabar Rahardjo said a group of armed men
wearing masks ransacked Cebongan Prison in Sleman, Yogyakarta, killing
four detainees who were charged for killing a member of the
Army’s Special Forces (Kopassus).
The detainees were Hendrik Angel Sahetapi, alias Deki, Adrianus Candra
Galaga, Yohanes Juan Mambait and Gamaliel Yermiayanto Rohi Riwu. The
four were imprisoned as they had been found guilty of killing First.
Sarg. Santoso, a member of Kopassus from Kandang Menjangan, Kartasura,
in a café in Yogyakarta.
“The
armed men said they were detectives from Yogyakarta Police
headquarters, and said they were here to question the four prisoners.
The warden became suspicious and then the armed men got impatient and
threatened to blow up the entire facility if the door wasn't opened.”
Sabar said on Saturday.
He
said the door was finally opened and then the men asked the warden to
show them the cell of the four inmates. The warden refused to cooperate
and was beaten by the men. The warden then showed the men the cell.
Once
they found the cell, the armed men shot and killed the four inmates.
The assailants also destroyed CCTV cameras and injured eight more
wardens before leaving the prison.(dic)
