ily Wahid, a former lawmaker from the National Awakening Party (PKB), officially joined the People’s Conscience Party (Hanura) on Thursday.
Lily and another PKB politician, Effendi Choirie, were dismissed as legislators by their party, which is led by Muhaimin Iskandar, who is also the manpower and transmigration minister. The party has called Lily and Effendi troublemakers. Hanura lawmaker Syarifuddin Suding said on Friday that Lily would continue to criticize the government with Hanura.
Lily will run as a legislative candidate in the same electoral district as Muhaimin. “Lily’s popularity in the East Java electoral district will increase her chances of winning the election,” Syarifuddin added.
