ity Council deputy speaker Inggard Joshua of the Golkar Party has resigned to join the NasDem Party, whose chairman is a former Golkar politician.

“I want to continue my struggle in another place and give someone else a chance. I want to see how far I can go,” Inggard told reporters on Wednesday.

Inggard said that he had joined the NasDem Party because he “feels at home” within the party, which is one of the few new parties cleared to field candidates in the election next year.

“I have been appointed as secretary at the NasDem Jakarta provincial board,” Inggard said.

He said that he had submitted his resignation letter on March 27 and that the Golkar Party had approved his resignation.

City Council speaker Ferryal Sofyan said that the General Elections Commission (KPU) had yet to appoint a temporary replacement.
