Indonesian band Gugun Blues Shelter (GBS) has been chosen by rock band legend Aerosmith as its concert’s opening act in Jakarta on May 11, at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
According to a press statement sent to The Jakarta Post on Wednesday, the concert’s promoters Dyandra Entertainment and Ismaya Life proposed several Indonesian bands, but Aerosmith singled out GBS as its opening act for the Jakarta stage in its Global Warming Tour.
“We were surprised when the promoters informed us that we have been chosen to be the opening act for Aerosmith. Aerosmith is a legend and it will be an amazing experience for us [to be its opening act],” the band’s frontman Gugun said.
GBS comprises Gugun, Jono and Bowie, and has released four albums in Indonesia and two in the US. The band won the Hard Rock Café’s Global Battle of the Bands competition to celebrate the Café’s 40th anniversary. They performed alongside global musicians such as Bon Jovi, Rod Stewart and the Killers at Hyde Park, London in 2011.
