T

he Jakarta Health Agency and organizations of hospitals, pediatricians and orthopedists are teaming up to investigate the negligence claim that led to the amputation of two-and-a-half-month-old Edwin Timothy Sihombing’s forefinger.

Agency head Dien Emawati said the team would need an unspecified length of time as they faced piles of medical and procedural documents from Harapan Bunda Hospital in East Jakarta.

“The patient had been hospitalized for around one month, so a medical audit may take some time,” she told The Jakarta Post on Friday.

Meanwhile, Edwin’s father, Gonti Laurel Sihombing, 34, said he hoped to meet with the hospital management on Monday, with his lawyer, to further discuss his son’s situation.

Gonti said Edwin would stay in the hospital until he received a legal statement from the hospital guaranteeing his son’s recovery and compensation for hospital treatment that led to Edwin’s current situation.
