ormer Democratic Party chief who has been namedas graft case suspect Anas Urbaningrum has appointed noted lawyer AdnanBuyung Nasution to lead his defense team in the Hambalang graft case.
The members of the team include Firman Wijaya,Tina Haryaning, Asmar Oemar Saleh, Carrel Ticualu, Patra M Zen, HandikaHonggowongso and Abdul Hadi Lubis.
Pia Akbar Nasution from Adnan Buyung Nasution's lawfirm said the team had been tasked with preventing intervention into thelegal process, to ensure the suspect's legal rights was respected throughoutthe process and to fully cooperate with the Corruption EradicationCommission (KPK).
'We are fully committed to
use this case to open the door for further investigations that might uncover
other instances of graft,' she said as quoted by kompas.com.
It is alleged that Anas, while he was a lawmaker, had
received a Toyota Harrier SUV from PT Wijaya Karya and PT Adhi
Karya as a sign of gratitude for the appointment of these companies as the
main contractors for the Hambalang Sport Center.(asw/dic)
