outh Tangerang municipal administration revealed on Wednesday that 179,949 people had yet to be registered in the administration database for the electronic citizen ID card (e-ID) project.

'We will invite the 178,949 residents to come for data recording at respective district offices across the municipality,' Toto Sudarto, head of the municipal Vital Statistic and Demography agency (Disdukcapil), said on Wednesday.

The number of residents who have not given data recording for e-ID cards are spread over seven districts across the municipality such as Serpong (27,004), North Serpong (15,472), Pondok Aren (21,775), Ciputat (36,232), East Ciputat (30,245), Pamulang (30,414) and Setu (17,789).

Separately, South Tangerang Mayor Airin rachmi Diany said she would instruct all district and subdistrict chiefs to complete e-ID cards' data recording.

If everything falls into place, the Home Ministry would officiate the use of e-ID for all regencies and municipalities across the country in June. The e-ID system is currently being installed in several areas.
