n official with theJakarta City administration says that 1,118 civil servants in Jakarta haveapplied to lead district or subdistricts.

'The candidates still have to pass several phases of selection tests before they can claim the jobs,' Jakarta Employment Agency secretary Budi Utomo said on Saturday, as reported by kompas.com.

Budi said the candidates would have to complete online tests on public policy before facing psychology tests, vision and mission tests and interviews.

The new model of recruitment has been touted by Governor  Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo as a way to improve civil service performance.

Jokowi previously said that the system would enable him to find out who really had the capability to provide clean and good public service at every level of the administration.(dic)
