est Java Vice Governor Dede Yusuf Macan Effendi said he would run for a seat at the House of Representatives upon finishing his term in the middle of the year.

"I will not leave West Java by being a lawmaker representing this province, but as an actor I would have to leave West Java," Dede said on the sidelines of a ceremony to commemorate the 58th anniversary of the Asia-Africa Conference at Merdeka Building in Bandung on Friday.

A former actor, Dede said that his decision to run for a House seat was due to prompting by other people. "I am just responding. I once said that upon finishing my term as a vice governor I would not play in another movie."

After failing to win the 2013-2018 West Java gubernatorial race, Dede is aiming to become a legislator with support from the Democratic Party. With regard to his placement and assignment, he said, it will be decided by the party's chairman, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

"Frankly speaking, I have no idea about it. In my case, it will be arranged directly by him [Yudhoyono]," Dede said.

News of Dede's lawmaker aspirations was first heard on the twitter account of a private radio station. A follower of Dede tried to confirm this.

Through his account @dedeyusuf_1, Dede later confirmed saying, "@dedeyusuf_1 Instruction from the chairman and encouragement from community exponents, RT @deryfg: That's right, Kang [Big Brother] @dedeyusuf_1".
