he leadership of the ruling Democratic Party has denied that it has purged the supporters of former party chairman Anas Urbaningrum, despite suspicions due to their conspicuous absence from the party’s provisional list of legislative candidates.
Deputy party chairman Max Sopacua denied the suggestion, saying that some Anas supporters were in fact on the list.
“People like Saan Mustopa, Michael Watimena and Nurhayati are now the party’s deputy chairs,” Max said on Thursday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Earlier this week, news media reported that some of Anas’ supporters had their names removed from the Democratic Party’s provisional list of legislative candidates, which was submitted to the General Elections Commission (KPU) over the weekend.
