Omron to use 3G network to monitor blood pressure

J

apan'€™s top medical instrument manufacturer, Omron, has introduced its latest medical gadget called the Medical Link, whose main function is to send data collected from self-tested blood pressure readings to doctors.
The company maintains that not only is the device reliable but that it will also provide an easier way for patients suffering from high blood pressure to monitor their condition from any location around the world with access to the 3G network. For their part, doctors can also prescribe proper medication to patients based on the information provided.
'€œWe have received a lot of positive feedback from users. There is even one 96-year-old lady living on her own who has no problem using it,'€ Kohno Seiji from Omron said in a press release sent to The Jakarta Post recently.
He said that right now 1,500 hospitals and medical facilities across Japan had started to use the Medical Link device. He added that the company would be organizing a series of promotional events in Las Vegas in May and China in June before launching a global promotion for the device.
Currently 40 million Japanese suffer from high blood pressure and 16 million of them receive treatment for the condition from doctors. (dic)
