wo men died after a flash flood hit Pagaralam City, South Sumatera, on Thursday.

The brothers — identified as Jansah, 42, and Dedi Irawan, 26 — were reportedly swept away by floodwater while fishing in Lematang River in Tebad Benawa, South Dempo district, Pagaralam.

Pagaralam Disaster Mitigation Agency head Herawadi said their bodies were found in separate places by the local Search and Rescue team and Lahat Police.

It took the collaborative team almost five hours to evacuate the deceased as the area was hard to reach, the bodies were transported to Besemah Pagaralam Hospital and Lahat Hospital for undergo autopsy.

“Based on the autopsy results, both victims sustained head injuries. There was no indication of violence,” Herawadi said.

The agency head called on residents to be alert during the rainy season.
