Semarang bus driver named suspect over tragic accident

he Semarang traffic police have named the driver of the bus whose brakesfailed and then hit three cars and eight motorcycles, killing three people andinjuring 12 others, as a suspect of the tragic accident.

The driver, Susanto was accused of reckless driving that caused the death of others. The police also questioned Hanafi, the driver's assistant, as a witness of the accident.

'We are still finding out why the bus's brakes malfunctioned,' Semarang traffic police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Faizal said as quoted by kompas.com on Saturday.

The bus, serving the Tembalang ' Mangkang route, had lost control on Jl. Dr. Wahidin, Semarang, Central Java. Soon after the accident, Susanto went to the nearest police station to surrender himself. (nai/dic)
