A total of 50 films will be screened at various European cultural centers in Jakarta and six other cities across the nation from May 4 until 12. The European Film Festival started in 1990 and has been held annually in Indonesia since 2003 under the banner '€œEurope on Screen'€ (EOS). This year'€™s event will include a short narrative and documentary film competition for young Indonesian filmmakers and a master'€™s class with sound designer Peter Warnier. Screening venues are Erasmus Huis in South Jakarta as well as Tugu Kunstkring Paleis, Istituto Italiano, Goethe Haus and Institut Français d'€™Indonésie in Central Jakarta. Visit europeonscreen.org for more information.

Exhibition

A total of 111 visual artists will display their work at the National Gallery in Central Jakarta from May 7 until May 24 in an exhibition titled '€œNusantara Visual Arts 2013'€ curated by Kuss Indarto and Asikin. More than 400 artists entered proposals to participate in the biannual exhibition, which has the theme '€œmeta-amok'€. The media to be displayed include paintings, photography, ceramic installation, video art and sculptures.

Music

Students and alumni of the Pelita Harapan University Conservatory of Music will perform at Salihara art center in South Jakarta on May 18. Creativity freedom during their studies has led them to explore various forms and styles of music, some, including gamelan, solo vocal, ensemble and electronic music performances. Performers include Budi Kristanda (who will perform Battle Hymn of the Vigorous Warrior Part 1), Christian Febrianto Alexander (Venus), Joshua Sentosa (A.W.A.C.S.), Kevin Ivan Renardy (Music Study) and Hana Hosea (My Name is Gamelan). Visit salihara.org for more information.
