ourth largest lender PTBank Nasional Indonesia (BNI) has signed a deal with Japan's top credit card issuer JCBto issue a joint credit card and expandtheir network.
'This is a breakthrough in the retail sector. This partnership will encourage the public to use BNI's new product, especially Japanese expatriates and the Japanese community in Indonesia," said director of BNI's customer and retail, Darmadi Sutanto in a recent press.
BNI has over 1,600 branches and almost 8,300 ATMs. JCB has 79 million actve card holders in 190 countries. This card is accepted by 23 million merchants and the card holders are largely based in Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, and other Asian countries.
Commenting on the partnership, JCB Indonesia's deputy president Kimihisa Imada said that the partnership would create new value for customers.
'We are committed to actively invest and bring in expertise in both quality of services and technology that to contribute to the Indonesian payment industry,' he said.
