idia Astuti, a five-year-old girl, died at around 10 p.m. on Monday due to severe head wounds allegedly inflicted by her step mother Novi Susanti, 30, in Depok, West Java.

Widia, who lived with her father Aa Supriadi and Novi, in Jatijajar sub-district, Tapos district, died on the way to Bhati Yudha Hospital in Depok.

Several neighbors experienced Novi's inappropriate treatment of Widia. One neighbor, who asked for anonymity, said he once heard Novi hit the child while they were at a local public toilet. Others witnessed Novi pinch Widia.

"When I arrived at her [Widia's] home I saw her convulsing. I thought there must be something wrong as she was bleeding heavily from her head, forehead and ears," Ismail, Widia's uncle, said.

Widia was taken to Cibinong General Hospital in Cikaret, Bogor, before she was moved to Dompet Dhuafa Republika Hospital in Parung, Bogor, for financial reasons.

Unfortunately, the medical team there did not have the equipment to treat Widia. They advised the patient to be taken to Karya Bhakti Hospital in Depok, which has more complete medical equipment.

Widia died during the journey.
