he government says it will be increasing the salaries of National Police officers and Indonesian Military (TNI) personnel this year.
The Cabinet Secretariat announced on its official website on Wednesday that the monthly salaries of the lowest-ranking police officers and enlisted TNI soldiers would be increased to Rp 1.39 million (US$143) per month, up 4.51 percent from Rp 1.33 million last year.
The largest salary increases will go to starred officers, with the lowest-ranking generals and commodores set to receive Rp 5.03 million per month, up by 6.57 percent from Rp 4.72 million.
The salary increases are based on Government Regulation (PP) No. 23/2013 on police salaries and PP No. 24/2013 on TNI salaries.
The raises will be retroactive to January this year, with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono having signed the regulations on April 11.
