hirty-eight minimarkets in East Jakarta have installed “panic alarms” to alert local police officers in emergency situations.
When the alarms are pushed, an alert is sent to the police notifying them of the minimarket’s exact location.
“The East Jakarta Police launched the system yesterday. Other areas will follow suit,” Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said.
He said the police recommend for businesses prone to crimes such as banks, pawn shops and jewelry shops, to follow the initiative.
