he Sarolangun Police have arrested a married couple, Zainudin bin Azaidin and Rita binti Domen inSarolangun, Jambi, for drugs possession.
Head of Sarolangun Police's narcotics desk Adj. Comr. Riduan J Hutagaolsaid the police had seized 48.9 grams of crystal methamphetamine, locally known as sabu-sabu, a bag of plastic containers, three bongs, one ecstasy pill, Rp 8.4 million (US$863) in cash and three mobile phones.
'Both the suspects and the evidence have been brought to the Sarolangun Police office for further investigation,' Riduan told the The Jakarta Post.
He said the police were initially tipped off by suspicious local residents. 'We then deployed officers to monitor the situation,' he said.
The police stopped the car the couple was in at 1:30 p.m. 'We told the driver and passenger to get out so we could examine the car,' said Riduan.
The two suspects face a maximum sentence of 12 years imprisonment if found guilty.(nai/dic)
