T

wo people were arrested by Batanghari Police on Tuesday for allegedly producing fake drivers' licenses. The suspects were apprehended in Kampung Baru sub-district, Muara Tembesi district, Jambi.

'The counterfeiting was discovered after we found drivers' licenses that were different from those issued by the Batanghari Police,' said Batanghari Police's head of crimes and detective unit, Adj.Comr.H.Soekamto, on Wednesday.

After checking files in the police's traffic unit (Satlantas), the investigators found that the drivers' licenses had been issued in the names of other people.

'We also received reports saying that counterfeit drivers' licenses were being circulated in Kampung Baru sub-district. We conducted a string of investigations and the drivers' licenses confiscated from the two suspects are in fact counterfeit licenses,' said Soekamto.

The two suspects identified only by initials VKA alias BB, 20, and SES, 47, are now being detained at Batanghari police station. (asw/ebf)
