The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named two more suspect tax officials for involvement in a new tax evasion case.

On Wednesday, the KPK arrested the two and their alleged courier at Terminal III of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The KPK also seized a car and S$300,000 (US$240,558) in cash. They later arrested EF, a staff member of PT The Master Steel in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.

'Two tax officials, ED and MDI, are believed to have contravened articles of Law No.20/2001 on Corruption,' KPK spokesman Johan Budi said on Wednesday night, as quoted by Antara news agency.

The law concerns gifts to civil servants and carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison and a fine of Rp 1 billion.

The Finance Ministry's Tax Director General Fuad Rahmany supports the KPK'. 'Training has proved useless. They are stubborn. We have to fire the guilty and put them behind bars,' said Fuad. (nai)
