An internal investigation at the Education and Culture Ministry has concluded that managerial error and delayed budget disbursement were responsible for the delay of the senior high school national exams in 11 out of the country's 34 provinces.

However, the month-long probe, led by the ministry's inspector general Haryono Umar, a former deputy chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), only looked into the printing processes of the exam materials and the organization of the exam.

Another investigation into the tender process for the exam's logistics was being carried out by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).

'We have found four big problems that caused the mess during the senior high exam last month,' Education and Culture Minister Mohammad Nuh told a press conference, held at his office on Monday.

Reading this front page article made me want to vomit because of the extreme nausea and revulsion it generated.

No doubt, many fellow Indonesians feel like I do: We used to be very trusting and gentle in the way we judged, but shameless statements and actions that our so-called 'leaders' have subjected us to have caused us to become increasingly suspicious, skeptical and cynical lately.

My cynical self is now asking why the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has only looked into the printing process of materials and the organization of the exam. Why not delve further and deeper into this murky mess and expose all the culprits?

Nuh prefers to blame others for his own incompetence and chronic lack of planning. No honorable leader would want to degrade himself in this way, as leaders who possess integrity and honor prefer to take the blame for mistakes themselves instead of sacrificing their underlings.

Again, as usual, idly standing by, President Yudhoyono is a willing accomplice in creating so much of the chaos in our country's education system.

No doubt, Khairil Anwar Notodipuro, the Head of Research and Development at the Ministry, was the first victim.

Did Khairil Anwar Notodipuro really resign at his own free will and because he was also prodded by his conscience?
