he North Sumatra Democratic Party Regional Leadership Board (DPD) relinquished the duties of two regional leaders as party caretakers due to alleged corruption.
The two regional heads, Mandailing Natal Regent Hidayat Batubara and suspended Medan mayor Rahudman Harahap, are currently implicated in corruption cases.
North Sumatra chapter Democratic Party head Tengku Milwan said the decision to dismiss the two regional leaders was agreed in a meeting attended by party caretakers.
Hidayat was arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) because he was believed to have accepted bribes from a contractor related to a development project in the province, while Rahudman is involved in the alleged misuse of village personnel allowances in South Tapanuli regency in 2005 worth Rp 1.5 billion (US$157).
