Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) will start serving ramen noodles to its passengers starting June 1, 2013.
Ramen noodles will be available as a light meal choice for first- and business-class passengers on ANA international flights.
The dishes will be prepared exclusively by Hakata Ippudo, the ramen noodle chain based in Kyushu, Japan.
Ippudo is one of Japan's most popular restaurants and has received overseas acclaim.
The restaurant chain has specially developed thin noodles that can be cooked on flights at a temperature of 80 degrees Celsius.
Ippudo will provide its famous Tonkotsu ramen soup for ANA's European routes and soy sauce ramen soup for the airline's American lines.
ANA has plans to expand the ramen service to its Asian lines.
