EPOK: Land owners in Depok, West Java, want more money for their land, wanted by the government for the Cinere-Jagorawi toll road that was scheduled to have been finished last year.
While the government-sanctioned Land Acquisition Committee for Depok divided 225 plots in Beji district into six different zones for compensation, land owners are holding out for the same price.
'We want compensation of Rp 10 million [US$1,025] per square meter for all types of land,' Syamsudin, a spokesman for the land owners, said on Monday. 'The toll road is a commercial road, so we have the right to profit from our land.'
Compensation offered by the government ranged from Rp 910,000 to Rp 4.85 million per square meter.
Committee member Agus Budi said that they had met with land owners for a fourth time on Sunday, this time with commissioners from the Indonesian Ombudsman.
'No more negotiations after this. The Ombudsman has found our offer fair and transparent. We will just wait and see whether the land owners will accept our final offer,' Agus said.
The 5.5-kilometer section between Jl. Raya Bogor and Kukusan is the second phase of the toll road project to connect Bogor and Depok. The first section, linking the Jagorawi toll road and Jl. Raya Bogor, has been operational since January 2012. The project was given to developer PT Translingkar Kita Jaya.
