 Activist dismayed by Dipo

A media activist is upset by Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam'€™s remarks about Franz Magnis Suseno.

Franz criticised the Appeal of Conscience Foundation's plan to give an award to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono for upholding religious freedom.

'€œDipo Alam has seriously misunderstood the reverend'€™s letter as an insult. Instead, it'€™s a bold act to encourage all parties to question whether the President truly deserves the award,'€ said Imam Shofwan,  who organized an online petition against the award, in a release sent to The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.

Imam also disparaged Dipo'€™s latest tweet telling all Muslims to stand united and never allow a non-Muslim to criticize a Muslim leader.

'€œAs a Muslim myself, I fully regret Dipo'€™s statement that might suggest interreligious conflict. He should not come out with that kind statement,'€ he said.(nai/dic)
