Your comments on an investigation of an officer, who holds a bank account containing more than Rp 1 trillion (US$102 million), which is allegedly from illegal logging and fuel smuggling activities:

Cases of corruption and manipulation in this country have become a culture. Therefore, it is very difficult to eradicate corruption. There should be an effort to make the people realize that corrupt people will face justice.

I don't believe all that money belong to him. Higher officers must be involved.

Rahayu Marlina

Amassing money is human weakness. An official has been caught. It is good so far.

But we have to realize that there are so many others who get away scot-free.

We must devise a system whereby money in excess of known sources of income is detected and the person concerned is asked to account for it.

The amount of more than Rp 1 trillion owned by the Papua Police officer makes no sense. How can he earn such a lot of money if only based on his salary. It is not impossible.

Therefore, this officer certainly got the money from illegal actions, such as illegal logging, fuel smuggling and others.

I hope the Papua Police will be more serious in investigating this officer, and of course, I believe that he did it not alone. Other people must be involved in his illegal actions.
