Indonesia, a country that has been recognized for nurturing hostility against religious minorities, has now also been acknowledged for its low tolerance of people of different races.

A report released by the World Values Survey, a global study of social attitudes carried out by Swedish economists, shows that Indonesia is skeptical about diversity and is racially intolerant, as fewer people want to live in neighborhoods with people from other races.

Your comments:

I agree with the survey. If people don't want neighbors to be of a different race, then they are intolerant. It is simple.

Yes, people may not kill them during a riot (it happened in Rwanda in 1995, while in Jakarta in 1998, many ethnic Chinese were protected by their neighbors), but if people cannot accept them as human, then they are intolerant.

So, Hong Kong is the most racially intolerant? I understand that their conception of 'foreigners' includes much poorer South Asians, Southeast Asians, probably Africans, but it's astonishing that they don't want to live next to caucasians.

All the caucasian students from Hong Kong and expats are accepted in apartments in Australia, New Zealand, UK, US and Germany.
