cting Padang-chapter Press Legal Aid Institute (LBH Pers) director, Rony Saputra, said on Wednesday that revealing the full identity of DM, 18, a senior high school student thought to be graft suspect Luthfi Hasan Ishaaq's wife, was a violation of the journalism code of ethics.
'This will affect her psychologically and can hamper her future,' he said as quoted by kompas.com.
Citing Article 5 of the Journalistic Code of Ethics (KEJ), he said that Indonesian journalists should not reveal and publish the identity of a promiscuity crime victim or the identity of children implicated in criminal activities.
'DM is not a promiscuity crime victim and she is also not a crime perpetrator. She is still a child,' said Rony.
Even if the media wanted cover DM, he said, this should be focused more on her refusal to fulfill the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) summons as a witness in the beef importation graft case involving Luthfi, the former Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) president, as one of the suspects.
