A

check-in system at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tanggerang, Banten, malfunctioned on Friday morning, delaying up to 43 flights.

The management of the airport confirmed that part of the malfunctioning system belonged to national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia at Terminal 2F in the airport.

"Yes, that's correct. We got the information directly from Garuda Indonesia," Kristanto, a spokesman for the airport, said as quoted by kompas.com.

Kristanto disclosed that the malfunction took place from 1:30 a.m. to 7:40 a.m. on Friday so that the check-in process had to be conducted manually.

The incident, he said, forced 39 flights to be delayed for more than one hour and four flights for less than an hour. No details on the number of passengers affected by the delays were available yet, Kristanto said.

The system was now back to normal after being repaired, he said. The number of passengers queuing at check in had substantially dropped, he added. (hhr)
