local banker was shot by an unidentified person while heading home from work onFriday night, with the assailant fleeing the scene and taking nothing from thevictim.
The victim was identified as Edison Tampubolon, head of BRI's Palu branch, Central Sulawesi. Edison is now hospitalized at Budi Agung General hospital with wounds to his left cheek and hand.
According to Edison's driver, Agus Zakaria, who was the main witness in the incident, Edison was in his car when he saw some men emerge from a nearby car park. The men asked Edison to open the window, as if they wanted to ask him a question. But when the window was opened, one of the men shot him in the face.
Central Sulawesi Police chief Brig. Gen. Ari Dono said according to the police's preliminary examination, the projectiles found in Edison's body were not from a real bullet.
'Edison might be dead right now if the perpetrators had used real bullets. They used an air soft gun to shoot Edison,' he said as quoted by kompas.com.
He said the police were still pursuing the assailant and his cohorts. (dic)
