ormer National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) treasurer Comr. Legimo Pudjo Sumarto said on Friday that he was often instructed by former Korlantas chief Ir. Gen. Djoko Susilo to manage his financial transactions.
Testifying at Djoko’s trial, Legimo claimed that his former boss asked him to pay hefty amounts of money to several people, including Djoko’s gardener.
“There were multiple payments to Nana Suryana, Djoko’s gardener. I would give up to Rp 300 million [US$30,600] in a single payment. But I forgot how many times [I made payments],” he said before the Jakarta Corruption Court in Kuningan, South Jakarta.
Besides that, Djoko also asked him to pay for the construction of Djoko’s house in Surakarta, Central Java, added Legimo.
“I also made payments to Novianto. According to Djoko, Novianto is a traditional Javanese joglo house builder in Surakarta,” he said.
According to Legimo, the money originated from multiple sources, including PT Citra Mandiri Metalindo, the firm that won the tender for the graft-ridden multi-million driving-simulator procurement project for which Djoko stood trial.
Legimo added that he kept a separate financial record of Djoko’s payments in a single book, different from the traffic corps’ financial records.
Hearing the testimony, the panel of judges shook their heads, asking Legimo whether he also worked as a personal treasurer for Djoko, since it was not his duty to make the payments.
“Are you the treasurer of the traffic corps or the personal treasurer [of Djoko]?” asked the panel. “Yes,” Legimo replied.
