senior Golkar Party politician said an internal rift, following the recent media coverage of the Koran procurement graft case, has emerged.
The politician, Priyo Budi Santoso, who is also a House of Representatives deputy speaker, said as quoted by kompas.com on Monday that the rift came to the fore when news outlets reported his recent visit to Fadh Arafiq at the Sukamiskin Penitentiary in Bandung, West Java.
Priyo said numerous elements within Golkar wanted to remove him, which he had no problem with if the move was conducted in a civilized manner.
Priyo is currently entangled in the Koran procurement graft case as several records of wiretapping at the court revealed that he may have received 1 percent of the fee.
