he government is proposing an electricity subsidy of Rp81.97 trillion (US$8.36 billion) to Rp 91.1 trillion in the 2014 draft state budget (RAPBN).
The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry's director general for electricity, Jarman, said that the exact amount of the subsidy would depend on the exchange rate and the crude oil price, Antara news
portal reported onWednesday.
The proposed amount is based on the assumption of rupiah exchange rate being Rp 9,600 to Rp 9,800 to the dollar and an oil priceassumption price of $108 per barrel.
In the 2013 RAPBN, the government has proposed Rp 87.24 trillion for the electricity subsidy. The amount was decided upon with a presumption of theexchange rate being Rp 9,600 to the dollar and a crude oil price of $108 perbarrel.(hrl/dic)
