 Bangka BelitungProvince official has apologized to Sriwijaya Air management on behalf ofZakaria Umar, an official who assaulted one of Sriwijaya's flight attendants.

 'We have made a formal apology to Sriwijaya Air and directly to Febriani, the flight attendant who was assaulted,' Bangka Belitung deputy governor Rustam Effendi said on Friday as quoted by kompas.com.

The administration has promised to punish Zakaria; however, punishment details have not been disclosed. He further said that the incident served as a lesson for the administration.

The police have named Zakaria a suspect and he is currently being held at the Pangkal Pinang Police. (hrl/dic)
