fter inviting three maintenance, repair and overhaul(MRO) firms to open shops, Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam, RiauIslands, will next offer commercial areas in the airport for the constructionof hotels and shopping malls.
The airport's commercial head, Dendi Gustinandar, said on Tuesday that hotels and shopping malls were incorporated in the airport's grand design, in addition to cargo area.
Dendi said the airport was preparing the offer to investors because just like other international airports, hotels and shopping centers would become integral parts of the airport.
He said the airport had yet to designate the areas to be offered.
'We are still studying the type and area for the hotels,' he added.
Meanwhile, the Batam Free Trade Zone Management Agency's spokesman, Dwi Djoko Wiwoho, said the agency was currently focusing on developing and optimizing airports and seaports in Batam.
'We want world-class investors to develop the supporting industry with their wide networks,' Djoko said.
