s the nation waits for the final decision on subsidized-fuel price, demand for the commodity at gas stations has been increasing, a senior official at state-owned fuel company Pertamina said.
"Demand has increased by three percent, which is still a safe rate,' Pertamina Communication Vice President Ali Mundakir said as quoted by kontan.co.id in Jakarta on Monday.
Ali added that the rising trend has taken place since last week.
On average, Ali said that subsidized-fuel demand has increased to 81,000 barrels per day from 80,000.
"We will try to prevent the current demand from rising any further,' Ali said.
The government and the House of Representatives are currently deliberating the 2013 revised state budget (APBN-P) bill during a plenary session. The bill contains a stipulation which raises subsidized fuel price by around 33 percent to Rp 6,500 (US$0.65) per liter.
