Customs and Excise Director General Agung Kuswandono said the directorate general would present two papers, one on the subject of establishing an online system for cargo manifest reports and the other on the exchange of passenger information.

'The first paper will discuss the initiative to establish an online system that will enable members of APEC's custom economic administration to exchange data on cargo manifest reports,' he told The
Jakarta Post.

He said that the second paper would focus on the initiative to set a standard for the exchange of passenger information using Passenger Name Record (PNRGOV), which was recommended by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), World Customs Association (WCO) and International
Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

'I hope the two initiatives are approved by the majority participants at the meeting,' Agung said.

As many as 21 delegations are set to attend the APEC SCCP meeting themed 'Optimizing Customs Control in Facilitating the Legitimate Trade'.

The meeting, which will last until June 21, precedes the APEC Senior Official Meeting that will be held from June 22 to July 6 in Medan.(hrl/dic)
