ndustry Minister MS Hidayat said the government would announce the subsidized-fuel price hike policy on Friday, a day after a plenary session on the policy.

"The policy will possibly be announced tomorrow evening," he said in Jakarta on Thursday as quoted by kompas.com. A plenary meeting was held on Thursday to finalize preparations for the fuel price hike.

According to him, the government has also prepared temporary direct cash assistance, or BLSM, as a financial relief program for the lowest income households to help ease the impact of the fuel price hike.

National Development Planning Minister Armida Alisjahbana said that the meeting on preparations for the fuel price increases started at 2 p.m. on Thursday, but declined to give details.

'I'm not allowed to talk about the issue, even if I know," she said.

Coordinating Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa also avoided commenting on the matter. "Just wait for the announcement," he said.(fan)
