housands of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) members took to the streets on Wednesday to protest against the upcoming subsidized-fuel price rise.
Members and supporters of the party gathered at the Proclamation Monument in Central Jakarta before marching to the State Palace.
PDI-P senior politician Ribka Tjiptaning said that the march was a last-ditch resistance by the party against the price rise.
'We have been defeated in the legislature but we will continue our resistance outside,' Ribka said.
The price of subsidized fuel is expected to rise after the House of Representatives agreed to pass the government's 2013 revised state budget (APBN-P) bill into law on Monday.
