Some elderly residents reportedly almost passed out during the registration process, while others, whose names were not listed, argued with officials.
The BLSM, Rp 150,000 (US$15) per month per household, is financial assistance issued along with the subsidized-fuel price hike, which took effect on June 22.
On Thursday, each beneficiary received Rp 300,000 two-month compensation payment. As many as 89.918 households in Gorontalo province are expected to receive the BLSM. There are 7,408 low-income households in Gorontalo City itself.
