ity police said they aimed to destroy a variety of illegal drugs worth Rp 150 billion (US$15.09 million) that have been confiscated within the last few months.
'The destruction of the illegal substances is slated for July 3,' narcotics division chief Sr. Comr. Nugroho Aji Wijayanto said on Friday.
He said that the drugs, which included crystal methamphetamine, ecstasy, hashish and others, had been seized in raids on drug dealers and users.
The drugs' destruction, according to Nugroho, would be led by senior officials from the Jakarta Police, the Jakarta Prosecutor's Office and the Jakarta District Court.
The substances will be burned in an incinerator belonging to state-owned airport management company Angkasa Pura I at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. (hrl)
