Online business and electronic commerce (e-commerce) in Indonesia might reach 19 million transactions worth a total Rp 5 trillion (US$478 million) this year, experts say.
“The figures are only for goods transactions, we have not even airplane tickets or hotel reservations,” e-commerce analyst Andi S. Boediman said as quoted by kontan.co.id on Thursday.
Last year, e-commerce total transactions were valued at $266 million.
Online shopping portal Tokopedia founder and chief executive officer (CEO) William Tanujaya said that in line with the growth of e-commerce, distribution service businesses would also grow.
William predicted the growth of distribution services, for e-commerce businesses wanting to distribute their products, could reach 20 percent.
